In a painting full of movement and contrast, the striped deckchairs appear to
dance in the wind, abandoned by the occupants. Patterns can be traced in the well-
trodden sand. The figures turned away are facing the sea but are bit players in the scene
which has an empty space as its central focus. The colours are fundamentally the
complimentary colours blue and orange.
