Viewed from a distance outdoor cafés present themselves as theatrical sets, with
the customers as players, often in dappled light or the shadows cast by sun umbrellas.
The yellow caste of the light on this café in Athens creates a sense of heat but there are
shaded areas that offer escape from the light. The balance of light and shade drew me
to this image, my eye being drawn into the central space.
